Argumentation Writing

Why should police carry guns? They do not need to! I am against police carrying guns. I am sick of police carrying guns because it always turns into violence. Imagine if you are with your family having a nice picnic outside on the beach and all of a sudden two cops come up to you with an ak47! They start threatening you and refuse to listen to what you have to say. Imagine you lost your life that day and in the end, the cops had the wrong person. Gun’s usually leadś to violince and danger in public. The police do not need guns because it will turn into violence, people might not feel safe having guns on the street and it could also sometimes cause racism. I gave reasons why guns are not needed Police should not have guns because it is expensive. A gun costs $500 which is too much! We don’t want two pay for their weapons, but we will have two if they decide they need two carry guns. This is not the only reason they should not carry guns. New Zealanders do not carry guns on their person, so why should the police? I believe that because a wide range of weapons are already illegal in NZ, we should not be introducing guns in our everyday lives. This link lists the range of weapons that are illegal in New Zealand. We pride ourselves on being a safe country and the ban on these weapons plays a huge part in that. We do not want to spark up fear in our community.
